HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

My mother is a woman like no other. She gave me Life, Nurtured me, Taught me, Dressed me, Fought for me, Held me, Shouted at me, Kissed me, but most importantly LOVE me unconditionally.

There are not enough words I can say to describe just how important my mother was to me, and what a powerful influence she continues to be....

All that I am,
or hope to be,
I owe to my angel mother 💗

DEAR MOM..
I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER;
AND FOREVER YOU WILL BE
THE MOST WONDERFUL MOTHER,
YOU MEAN EVERYTHING TO ME.

5 Hairstyles That Require Zero Curling Iron Skills

Forget a magic wand (for now). We’d be content effectively wielding a curling wand. Luckily, for the beach wave-challenged, the Internet has a slew of hairstyle tutorials that require zero curling iron skills. See five of our favorites below.

THE BANANA BUN

Good news: The banana bun works best when your hair is a little dirty. Divide your hair into three sections, securing the middle section with an elastic. From there, wrap the right section over the middle, twisting the two together. Then tuck the left section underneath and pin it all up—or don’t. The beauty of this style is that you can make it whatever you want…and messy is good.

THE HALF-UP TWIST

If you’re prone to absentmindedly twirling your hair, you can create this style. Grab a three-inch-wide section of hair from one temple and tease slightly for texture and volume. Divide the section in half and twist the two halves around each other. Repeat on the other temple and secure the two sides together in back with a rubber band. Hello, pretty.

THE ARTFUL AIR-DRY

There’s a technique to that perfect French girl bedhead look. Apply Redken’s new No Blow-Dry cream to damp hair, twist or scrunch to create texture and let air-dry. Um, what’s the French word for “easy”?

THE MESSY TOPSY TAIL

Remember that weird tool you bought off TV in the ’90s? Well, that style, mussed up a bit, is totally wearable today—and no, you don’t need another gadget in your vanity to do it. Simply put your hair in a loose low pony and pull it through the top (above your hair tie). Tease it a bit and you’re ready for work.

THE HALF-UP TOPKNOT

Nineties styles have been creeping back into our lives the last couple of years, and finally, they’ve found their way up to our hair. It just so happens the half-up bun is trendy and oh-so-easy. Plus, we have a feeling you’re already familiar with the style.

A Simple Mascara Trick to Get Longer Lashes

A Simple Mascara Trick to Get Longer Lashes

TWENTY20
Who doesn’t love a good beauty hack? Especially one that promises to make your lashes long and fluttery. Unfortunately, some things are way too complicated (like adding baby powder between coats of mascara…what?) or a tad too expensive (like getting lash extensions). But occasionally, we find a surprising trick that requires nothing but a simple tweak to our existing routine.
What you need: A handheld mirror and a tube of mascara
What you do: Instead of starting at the base of your lashes, apply the first coat of mascara to the tips, running the wand through the top side of your lashes and coating the tips from above. Then look down into the mirror (to make sure you apply your next coat as close to the roots as possible) and wiggle your wand from base to tips as you normally would.
Why it works: When you apply multiple coats of mascara to the entire length of your lashes, it can be too heavy and cause clumping. By applying the first coat to only the top side of the tips, you get the added length where you need it most--and none of the extra bulk.

5 Eyewear Trends We’re Excited to Try Now

For a long time, glasses were more of a necessity than an accessory. But with celebrities like Rashida Jones and Mindy Kaling rocking oversize frames on the reg (and fashion runways sending down armies of models in ’70s-inspired specs), they’ve become super trendy over recent years. Here, the five styles we’re (ahem) seeing everywhere.

clear frames

INVISIBLE FRAMES

Clear frames are a study in (wonderful) contradiction. They add a subtle but distinct edge to any outfit. They’re slightly retro yet modern at the same time. And because they have no color to them, you can match them to anything in your wardrobe.
round glasses

ROUND FRAMES

The key to rocking a pair of circular frames (without looking costume-y) is to keep them on the thinner side and balance the roundness of the lens with sharper details like pointy corners on the edges of the rims or a straight bridge across the nose.

A SUBTLE CAT EYE

Just dramatic enough, a cat-eye frame is particularly flattering on square-shaped or wider faces as they help to balance things out. Try them in a fun hue like burgundy to really pop against your skin—or play it on the safer side with a tortoiseshell or black pair.
aviator glasses

OPTICAL AVIATORS

Perhaps the trendiest frames of the moment (Brooklyn is crawling with them), this retro style is much more flattering than you’d think. The dainty wire rims accentuate pretty much any face shape.

square glasses

THICK SQUARE FRAMES

And if wire-framed aviators are the trend of the moment, then a pair of bold, square frames are timeless. Seriously, we’ve been wearing ours for the last six years and they still look current (you know, in our humble opinion).

Hello! New glasses

Long story short, I have a new pair of eyeglasses.

I had an eye checkup and got the lens fitted the same day. I've had my current pair for two years now and I've been meaning to have it replaced so I couldn't have chanced upon these "granny glasses" at a better time. I got my glasses with the correct grade earlier last month; it took longer because of my astigmatism.

I'm so happy I finally got the time and energy to sit down in front of my laptop before the FINAL! I don't even remember the last time I got to do this as it feels like I only ever use my laptop for do the assignment now and then my phone for social media. I missed sleeping so much!

ANOTHER SUNSET

One day, you said to me, "I saw the sunset forty-four times!"

And a little later you added: "You know-- one loves the sunset, when one is so sad..."

"Were you so sad, then?" I asked, "on the day of the forty-four sunsets?"

But the little prince made no reply.

NO MORE BRACES!

Praise be to God and all His blessed , for I am finally free from the bondage that shackles me!

But seriously, if, like me, you've been wearing braces for more than a quarter of your life, then you'll find a lot of reasons to rejoice when they're finally removed.

Buh-bye, braces!

I first wore braces when I finished my high school, until my second semester in college. Unfortunately, even that long span of time wasn't enough as I had to have new ones fitted again. I had it done TWO YEARS AGO and earlier this year my orthodontist removed it! For good, I hope.

My sisters also wore braces before. Now we're just a cute of sisters showing off our perfect smile. Heh.

REAL TECHNIQUES BRUSHES - SEPHORA

During a recent Sephora shopping session, I splurged on a few Real Techniques brushes.

Oops.

These arrived in less than a week. I actually wasn't aware that the Pixiwoo sisters have released this many types of brushes already! It was so exciting reading each one's descriptions and deciding which ones to put in my cart. In the end, these won and now I'm going to share the descriptions of each one.

Real Techniques Retractable Lip Brush
Now you see it...

Now you don't!

Synthetic taklon bristles are 100% cruelty-free. My other makeup brush sets contained lip brushes but it was the first time I got a retractable kind. Very efficient when you're rushing and don't have time to make sure all brush hairs are in place before putting the cap back on. I still prefer applying my lipstick to my lips directly from the tube but even I admit how precise lipstick application looks when done using a lip brush. I also don't have to worry about getting unwanted swatches in my bag because the cap is secure enough.

Real Techniques Retractable Bronzer Brush

Contouring is one of my favorite makeup techniques because I look so polished whenever I have even the tiniest hint of a contour. This retractable bronzer brush deposits just the right amount of bronzer for this purpose. I also use it to brush finishing powder all over my face.
Real Techniques 100 Arched Powder Brush from the Bold Metals Collection

Oh my goodness, this is the most luxe brush I have. It's so soft and fluffy! ♥ Perfect for loose or pressed powder. I have one problem, though. Makeup application takes longer when I use this because I can't stop running it all over my face. Heh.

Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Collection

The photo shown in the website is actually of black and white brushes so I was quite surprised by these, but then again, awww my Travel Essentials set has baby sisters now. I actually haven't been able to try them yet but these are said to be great for achieving feather soft finish. The limited edition duo-fiber brushes are designed to pick up and release lighter amounts of makeup for buildable, mistake-proof application. Perfect for no makeup-makeup look!

I'm so excited for all these new brushes and now I'm inspired to wear makeup more often. I will play with these more and post a more comprehensive review after they've been through several uses and washes!

Do you have a favorite makeup brush?
